Sister Reflection

By Sister Ana
As the Church continues to celebrate Easter during this Octave of Easter we are given the scripture of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus after the death and resurrection of Jesus.  It is a time of much confusion for the believers.  In this moment Jesus draws near to the disciples and listens to them share their experience before he begins to share the scriptures that foretell of the Christ and all the events that happened.  They are so caught up in his sharing that they invite Jesus to stay with them once they reach their destination.

Two points:  Jesus drew near, and the two disciples invited Jesus to stay with them.

Here is the Easter promise:  Jesus has drawn near to us and only awaits our openness and invitation to remain with us.

I had the amazing gift of being at a home for children in Honduras for Holy Week.  There I experienced the new life that blossoms when children experience the healing presence of Jesus through those who have drawn close to them and remained with them.

During these Easter days may you allow space to notice Jesus draw close to you in the people and circumstance of your life; share your heart with him; invite our Risen Savior to remain with you.
