Reflection by Sr. Ana, CSR

How can we prepare for Christmas this Advent?

How can we prepare to notice and  receive Jesus who came as a helpless infant born into poverty in a small corner of this world and who continues to be present to us in unexpected ways?

Who was it that recognized Jesus when he walked this earth?

The poor . . .

The tax collectors, prostitutes—sinners . . .

The blind, crippled, diseased . . .

The outcasts . . .

The children . . .

Each one of these recognized their need and believed in a love stronger than their weakness.  They were empty and in their emptiness they could be open to notice and receive.

This Advent, let us pray for humble hearts, aware of our needs, our weaknesses, our lack of control; aware that we are loved by a love deeper than we can imagine; a love that we do not have to earn; love that only asks us to receive.
